Phoenix’s own alice.km is on the up and up thanks to a multi-genre approach to production. Known for her organic house style, her 2-track EP “The Back Beat” finds the young producer dabbling in techno’s darker side of dance.
The titular track “The Back Beat” – plunges listeners into a techno-rich atmosphere complete with pulsing bass lines and haunting vocal chops. The second track on the outting, “Talk To Me,” provides a unique twist, integrating vocal samples from a techno warehouse party interview, adding some cheeky character to the output. While “The Back Beat” introduces a dystopian soundscape, “Talk To Me” juxtaposes its techno foundations with raw, enticing melodies and a slightly irreverent tone.
