Arturia Pigments 5: What’s New?

Arturia, a French music software company, has announced the upcoming release of a major update to its popular software synthesizer Pigments. The update, Pigments 5, features upgrades aimed at appealing to modern music producers.

Pigments first launched in 2018 as Arturia’s latest synth plugin for creating electronic music. The synthesizer stood out for its combination of analog-style engines with modern digital techniques, allowing extensive sound design flexibility. Reviews praised Pigments for its intuitive interface and sonic capabilities spanning ambient textures to bass and leads.

Features & What’s New

The new Pigments 5 looks to build on that foundation with additions reflecting the current music landscape. CPU now has a redesigned engine architecture that utilizes multi-core processing for increased CPU efficiency. Now users can run more instances of the soft synth without worrying much about CPU constraints.

According to the company, other major additions include an integrated step sequencer for melodic pattern generation and external audio processing directly through Pigments. More routing options have also been added to facilitate sound design complexity.

On the content side, Pigments 5 will launch with 100 new preset sounds covering typical modern genres like hip-hop, house, and pop. For users looking to expand their sonic options further, Arturia is offering discounted bundles of expansion sound banks called Explorations.

Intro Offer

Past Pigments users can update to Pigments 5 free-of-charge through their Arturia accounts. New users can purchase Pigments 5 at an introductory discount of $99, reduced from $199. The Explorations sound banks will also be discounted to $49 each upon Pigments registration.

Despite its relatively young age, Pigments has already amassed a following among electronic musicians. Brian Funk, a Los Angeles-based film composer, has used the instrument extensively since its launch.

Arturia positions the latest Pigments as ideal for modern producers needing both adaptable sonics and reduced CPU strain. As processing power increases alongside music’s ongoing digitization, software instruments must evolve apace. Pigments 5 arguably presents an ambitious rethinking geared for current creative needs. For existing fans or producers with interest, the update and expansion launches present attractive offers according to early details.
