It’s been eight years since ODESZA’s timeless rework of Hayden James‘ “Something Like You.” And the duo gave James the opportunity to return the remix favor almost a year later, kicking off the new year by putting a spin on the The Last Goodbye‘s eponymous cut and one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Top Tracks of 2022.

James takes the fan-favorite album cut to an entirely new level, elevating “The Last Goodbye” to be more suited for the dancefloor with an infusion of pulsing bass and the ultimate mixture of progressions, breakdowns, and four-on-the-floor drops. Right off the bat, the Aussie infuses a powerful build-up that’s supported by the soulful vocal sample from Bettye LaVette’s 1965 “Let Me Down Easy” found in ODESZA’s original and does justice to a remix that’s been a long time coming.

Nonetheless, James does not disappoint in upholding his signature four-on-the-floor beats since his last major project LP ‘LIFTED.’ Stream Hayden James’ latest release down below.
