After putting his spin on one of the most popular records from Dancing Astronaut‘s reigning Label of the Year—Afterlife—back in 2022, it was only a matter of time before Kölsch would sonically find himself next to Kevin de Vries. And it’s a meeting between two generations of dance music, with the Dancing Astronaut Artist To Watch in 2023—who has quickly built and diversified his release catalogue—and the former—who has established himself as a leader in between the worlds of melodic-techno and deep-house—delivering a two-for-one release on Ipso Recordings, Gate / Masterplan.

Released as a duo of singles rather than a formal EP, “Gate” and “Masterplan” take two different approaches to the overarching melodic genre. Originally debuted in June of 2022, “Gate” remained one of the most energetic techno IDs of the last year, played out by the likes of Tale of Us, CamelPhat, Sasha and—of course—the two producers themselves. Alternately, the release’s B-side had flown under the radar as an elegant mixture of progressive and deep house. Stream “Gate” and “Masterplan” below.
