Italian brother-duo Mathame have made quite a name for themselves in the Eastern Hemisphere of the dance music world. Having been mainstays on Afterlife, Mathame have recently made a gradual transition over to Astralwerks. And now, the siblings are cementing back-to-back releases on the Universal-backed imprint, following October’s “Come For You”with “So What.”

Known for their chilling, piano-heavy melodies, Mathame incorporate a heavy framework for their latest single, showing stark contrast to the psychedelic predecessor. “So What” embarks on a darker and unclear pathway while still encompassing piano synths and Mathame’s voluminous sound, making for a unique, distorted take on techno and creating a sound that cannot be easily defined. And the single’s artwork further illustrates how the Italian brothers draw heavy influence from science-fiction and artificial intelligence. As many melodic-techno artists continue to pave their careers thriough both music and art, Mathame may exhibit one of the most unique sounds in the genre as a whole
