MEDUZA share first AETERNA Records original, ‘Upside Down’

Coming off the success of their edit of GENESI’s “Everything You Have Done,” MEDUZA have returned for a proper follow-up on their new imprint AETERNA Records. Tapping Poppy Backsomb for the vocals, “Upside Down” marks the trio’s first original on the label and had remained a long-awaited ID in MEDUZA’s tracklists after first premiering at SLAM!‘s Amsterdam Dance Event in 2022.

Making for a surefire club weapon, “Upside Down” continues to showcase MEDUZA’s duality between the underground and the pop side of dance music. Using futuristic, progressive synths, MEDUZA’s latest single is another hybrid track that toes the lie between melodic techno and future rave that continues to craft out their own niche within house and techno. Taking inspiration from Netflix’s hit TV show Stranger Things, MEDUZA commented that they “loved the program on Netflix so [we] wanted to translate all that we watched into music.” Resulting in a perfect compliment to the Italian trio’s artistic vision, the melody from “Upside Down” invokes both hypnotic notes and dark pathways.
