Orbital revives iconic 1991 debut with ‘The Green Album’ reissue and North American tour

British electronic pioneers Orbital are set to release the reissue of their seminal 1991 debut, known affectionately as ‘The Green Album,’ on April 19, 2024. The offering, available in various formats including 4LP Box Set, 4CD Box Set, Black and Limited Coloured 2LP, 2CD, and Cassette, features fully remastered tracks by the Hartnoll brothers, Phil and Paul.

The album, originally released on September 30, 1991, showcases iconic Orbital tracks such as the breakthrough single ‘Chime‘ and the enduring classic ‘Belfast.’ The comprehensive reissue includes early Orbital favorites like ‘Satan‘ and unveils previously unreleased tracks, making it a must-have for fans of the groundbreaking electronic duo.

As part of the reissue project, Orbital is also launching ‘Orbital LED’s‘—Limited Edition Drops—a series of fully remastered versions of their pre-‘Green Album’ EPs, complete with new artwork.

Orbital will celebrate the reissue with a North American tour, featuring dates in New York, Chicago, and Miami. The tour kicks off on March 22 at Webster Hall in New York, with two shows covering both the ‘Green‘ and ‘Brown‘ albums. The legendary electronic duo will also perform at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 24 and the Coachella Music Festival in California on April 13 and 20.

The Hartnoll brothers, who have significantly shaped electronic music, expressed their ambition to explore broader textures and rhythms with their debut album, setting them apart from their rave circuit contemporaries. The success of ‘Chime‘ led to their signing with London/ffrr Records, propelling them into the forefront of electronic music innovation.

Orbital’s influence spans beyond music, having collaborated with diverse artists like Madonna, Kraftwerk, and Professor Brian Cox. With an impressive career that includes soundtracks for Hollywood films and a reputation as one of the best live acts globally, Orbital continues to redefine the possibilities of dance music.

The reissue of ‘The Green Album‘ arrives 33 years after its initial release, setting the stage for the ‘The Green + Brown Album Tour.’ Orbital will reinterpret both albums in their entirety, performing tracks live for the first time. The tour marks the 30th anniversary of their legendary 1994 Glastonbury performance, recognized for converting the festival to dance music.

Orbital’s resurgence with London Records includes the 2022 compilation ‘30 Something‘ and the critically acclaimed 2023 studio album ‘Optical Delusion,’ earning them a UK Album Chart Top 10 placement—their first since 1999’s ‘Middle Of Nowhere.’ With the upcoming reissue and tour, Orbital continues to captivate audiences with their pioneering electronic sound.
