Sash! – Encore Une Fois celebrates 27 years of dancefloor dominance

It’s been 27 years since the infectious beats of Encore une fois first graced the airwaves, and yet, the song’s energy and allure remain as potent as ever. Released in January 1997 by German DJ group Sash!, the track featuring French vocals by Sabine Ohmes quickly became a global sensation, marking its place as one of Sash!’s most iconic hits.

The success of “Encore une fois” extended across borders, with the UK witnessing its rise to the second spot on the Singles Chart and earning a Gold certification in a matter of weeks. Europe too succumbed to its rhythm, propelling the song to top 10 positions in countries such as Belgium, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. Greece and Ireland, however, crowned it with chart-topping glory.

In the United States, “Encore une fois” carved its niche as a club anthem, securing the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, where it reigned for an impressive fourteen weeks. The accompanying music video, directed by Oliver Sommer, added visual flair to the infectious beats.

Fast forward 11 years, and the song experienced a resurgence, reaching the top 40 in three countries as part of a mashup with Stunt’s “Raindrops,” aptly titled “Raindrops (Encore une fois).”

As we celebrate 27 years of “Encore une fois,” its enduring popularity is a testament to the timeless quality of this dance classic. The rhythmic masterpiece continues to echo through clubs, evoking nostalgia and igniting dance floors, reminding us that some melodies are destined to be eternal.
