Space 92 & HI-LO combine their expertise on ‘Orion’: Listen

Space 92 and HI-LO (Oliver Heldens) followed up on their 2022 smash hit Mercury with Orion, which serves as yet another explosive offering and shows just how well these 2 artists work the magic in the studio.

Space 92 and HI-LO have done it again! A year and a half has passed since the pair presented Mercury to the world and to start off their productive year they have published one of two joint efforts to come out this January, Orion. The other release the duo have in store for us will officially be unveiled to the world next Friday, on 26th of January precisely. You already know when the two titans of techno decide to cooperate, satisfaction is guaranteed. Space 92 and HI-LO took to social media last September to show the fans that they’ve been locked in the studio for 48 hours to create as much new material as possible. Space 92 already posted a little teaser of Orion at the start of last August when he showed love to his fanbase for him being the top selling techno artist on Beatport from February to August of 2023.

Hardhitting as ever, Orion starts off its 3:21 minute duration in blistering fashion with the rolling bass already showing its ferocity from the get-go. Couple that with usual Space 92 astral sounds and you’ve got yourself a promising intro. Soon as the first drop hits, crisp kicks and a fine sprinkle of acid have the power to completely engulf the listener in a dancing frenzy. Afterwards, the break is introduced and it shrouds itself in peacefulness with dreamy synths and a powerful, yet calm sub bass. The second drop ups the ante on a completely new level. Vigorous stabs build up the energy instead of a usual buildup you hear in most techno tracks and when the drop hits it retains the stabs but complements them with expertly crafted rolling bass and even more acid. Just like with any other Space 92 or HI-LO track, Orion is a total powerhouse that is suitable for most stages around the globe.

The pair’s connection was as evident as ever when they performed a b2b set for Mixmag Netherlands during the Amsterdam Dance Event last October. Featuring tons of new IDs from the likes of Space 92 and HI-LO themselves, LUSU (Mike Cervello & Wiwek), and Eli Brown, the set is definitely worth checking out. The set is out now on YouTube. While we await the next week’s offering from the techno wizards, you can check out Orion on all your favorite streaming platforms.
