Tame Impala has returned to output another body of work in all the glory of the intersection between psych rock and electronic dance music. On February 18, frontman Kevin Parker released The Slow Rush B-Sides & Remixes, presenting a renewed rendering of the project’s fourth studio album. The package features a groovy remix of “Patience” by Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman” left-field house producer Maurice Felton, a sultry rendition of “Borderline” from English singer-producer Blood Orange, and a harmonic, introspective version of “Is It True” by electronic music producer, Four Tet.

Opening up the rework is synth-heavy, psych rock track, “The Boat I Row,” which originally debuted on Tame Impala’s YouTube channel, February 17. The eight-track EP evokes a free and easy, nonchalant vibe. Standout tracks include Lil Yachty’s incorporation into “Breathe Deeper” and the NTS’ version of “One More Year;” both songs are danceable and reminiscent of their originals, yet shine exceptionally for their creative reimaginings of the Slow Rush tunes.

Tame Impala begins his The Slow Rush tour on February 27 at Innings Festival, with stops on the tour to include Brooklyn, Boston, Toronto, and more before he jets off to Europe and Australia later this year for several more international performances.
